4th Quarter Push

Is it really October already?! Time is moving way too fast! There seems to be a consensus throughout social medial that the calendar is disappearing a little too quickly. Why do we feel like time should slow down?

Because we’re slow and haven’t met our goals.

This may not be true for everyone, but it’s definitely true for me. I feel like it was just a few days ago that I sat down and prayed over my 2017 goals and wrote them down to hold myself accountable. I have three months left to complete this list of things and I am nowhere near being done. This is usually where I get discouraged and quit at life, only to try again next year. Well, this year that’s not going to happen.

I have three tips on how to make sure that 4th quarter pressure doesn’t cause you to lose the game.

Revisit the basics

A few of the goals I set up to accomplish this year were, all in all, dreams. I wanted to publish or sign two other authors onto my publishing company. I wanted to cut my debt in half. I wanted to lose 50 pounds. There were a few other ones, but they covered all aspects of my life. I made a little graphic that I saved in my phone for reference.

Maybe you have them written down or saved in your phone. Or maybe you didn’t write your goals down, but have them in your head. Wherever they are, take a moment to review them. Think about your mindset when you made these goals.

Evaluate where you are

I’ve only completely met one of my goals. I published another author in February and just recently signed another. This was one of my MAJOR goals so being able to check that off the list was very emotional for me. I’ve lost 16 pounds. Although I’m ecstatic about it, I know these last few months I haven’t pushed for my  goal weight as I did at the beginning of the year. I don’t think I’ve made a dent in my debt, however my credit score has increased almost 100 points this year! I didn’t hit every goal but I made progress and that’s important as well.

There are going to be times where we fall short. It’s better to fall short than to fail at attempting at all. Evaluating where you are now puts things into perspective. I’d recommend doing this more at the beginning of the summer, but the year isn’t over yet! We still have the 4th quarter to make up for time wasted. Not to sound too preachy, but God woke you up for a reason. If there is something you’ve wanted but haven’t achieved, it’s time to put it into action.

This week I’m cleaning up my eating and getting back into the habit of exercising at least five times a week. It’s time to aggressively pay on debt to knock more of it off. It may be October, but my goals don’t expire at the end of the year. These are things I want for my life, not just 2017. The deadline was just to have something to push for.

You can be the best player in the world, but if you aren’t a closer there will always be someone who wins before you. Giving up now because you haven’t reached your goals means you didn’t want them that badly to begin with. Stop giving up on yourself or putting your dreams and goals off until the new year. Use this new day God blessed you with to work towards what you want.

How do you plan to PUSH in the 4th quarter of 2017 to win the game?
