Atlanta’s top ice cream shops surely to keep you cool this summer
It’s summertime here in Atlanta which means we all scream for ice cream! What better way to stay cool then devouring some of the best ice cream we have to offer. Why eat the same ole ice cream from the grocery store, when you can get some scoops of the best!
With flavors like Coconut Jalapeno, Original Salted Caramel, and Krispy Kreamier, there’s no wonder why they have won countless awards since opening their doors in 2008. With store locations in Ormewood and Dunwoody, be sure to drop by and try a scoop or 3 of this Atlanta favorite.
Located in the downtown square of Decatur, sits the city’s only small batch ice cream shop. They have ice cream, sorbets, and other sweet treats that will surely make your sweet tooth happy. They offer the classic flavors, their signature flavors, as well as seasonal/rotated flavors. The next time you find yourself in the Decatur Square, be sure to drop by.
If you have ordered ice cream for dessert in one of Atlanta’s restaurants, there is a good chance that those scoops of deliciousness came from none other than High Road. They do not have a retail shop, but their pints can be found in specialty stores throughout the US, Mexico, and Canada. Did I mention, they also pasteurize their own dairy? This makes for a luscious creamy texture that cannot be found in other brands. I should know, I used to work there, lol.
So if you’re reading this browsing through Whole Foods or planning a grocery store trip, be sure to pick up a pint.
Even though Jeni’s is based in Ohio, it has become a hit among the ice cream lovers here. Using dairy from grass-fed cows and using fair trade ingredients, you won’t feel an ounce of guilt while indulging in a pint or two. They offer ice cream, sorbet, sundaes, and ice cream sandwiches. Find them at Krog Street Market, Westside Provisions, and The Fresh Market.
Gelato, sweet gelato. It’s dense, thick, and rich. Something that crew over at Honeysuckle knows much about. They opened their doors in 2009, and have since garnered a loyal following here in Atlanta. They offer flavor combinations like Honey Fig, Toasted Marshmallow, and my favorite (before I transitioned to a plant-based diet) Brown Butter. Their store can be found in the Ponce City Market, pints and scoops can be found in specialty stores throughout the Atlanta area.
