Review: Shamrock Poundcake Reviewed by Dinika

I have a confession, I’m not really a sweets type of person <gasp> but I jumped at the chance to review Savor V’s Flavor of the Month known as the “Shamrock Pound Cake" and I’m so happy I did! Here’s the sweet scoop:

The cupcakes came packaged in a cute little mason jar. You read that right cupcakes...plural. Each jar holds 2 cupcakes with icing. The labeling was definitely on point, which I really appreciated because I have a few food allergies. There’s nothing like a surprise allergic reaction because someone forgot to include one trace ingredient on the label. Anyway, as I opened the jar I heard the familiar “swoosh-pop” of release which let me know this cake would be fresh...and it was!

I’m a visual person, if I can’t look at it, I can’t eat it. Again, no problem with Savor V on that end. The green tint of the Bailey’s Irish Cream Buttercream Frosting against the buttery hued pound cake had me salivating before I even dug my spoon into the pillowy cake softness.

(I know I’m not the only spoon wielding cake eater)

Oh...mmm...gee. Creamy. Buttery. Sweetness. That’s really the only way I can describe how my taste-buds were assaulted with happiness. Surely, it has to be a crime for something to taste this good! For the purposes of this review I savored the first bite so I could actually be as impartial as possible. However, I’m not ashamed to say, I devoured the rest. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to save some for later (the resealable jar is another plus for that reason), but I wasn’t having anything of the sort. BOTH cupcakes were demolished and I sat looking sadly at the empty jar about 5 minutes after I opened it. So much for not really being a sweets type of person.

The verdict: That delicious dessert had me bopping my head and twirling my spoon, singing, “Oh Shamrock, we love you baby” (sorry, I was binge watching old episodes of “Class of 3000”) You have got to try this March cupcake of the month before March is gone. Seriously, you won’t regret it. Grab one here!
