February is here...And we all know what that means! Roses are red, violets are blue, we like strawberries and they like you too. The classic shortcake calls for biscuits so we’re going to switch it up a bit. Let’s get to it!
Ingredients can be easily found at your local grocery store. It will take more time to shop for them then it will to make the trifle.
What you need:
1 Pound cake, cut and cubed
2 cups strawberries, chopped & macerated
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla
Add cream, sugar, and vanilla in mixing bowl. Whip on medium speed until stiff peaks form. This should take no more than 2 minutes.
Place chopped strawberries into bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
Place pound cake cubes in bottom of glass. Layer strawberries on top of pound cake. Layer whip cream on top of strawberries. Repeat until glass is filled. Let sit for 2hrs or eat immediately! Either way it’s guaranteed to be delicious.
If you want to switch it up a bit, try using chocolate cake. What better way to pair strawberries and chocolate without all the mess of melting chocolate.
