Classic Sangria

Nothing says summer like a delicious fruity cocktail. In this case, my favorite drink is a delicious red Sangria. I remember when I first moved to Atlanta, I decided to go on a quest to find the best the city had to offer. After numerous tries and countless miles driven, I became disheartened I could not find one I enjoyed. I then decided to save my coins, miles, and headaches and started making my own. I haven’t looked back since.

I enjoy that’s it is very easy to make and rather inexpensive. A bottle of dry red wine, rum, juice, fruit, and a little bit of sugar and you’re good to go. There are many variations to the recipe I’m sharing, so feel free to experiment and have fun!

What you need:

1 750mil bottle dry red wine

1 cup rum

½ cup orange juice (optional)

½ cup sugar (optional)

1 orange, sliced

1 apple, cored & sliced

1 lime, sliced (optional)

You will also need a pitcher & a spoon

Pour wine, rum, orange juice and sugar in pitcher. Stir to combine. Add fruit and give it another good stir. Refrigerate at least 1 hour (or up to overnight).

Let the flavors marinate before adding more sugar if needed. It will get sweeter as it sits.

When your 24 hours are over, grab a glass and let’s toast to one fabulous summer!
