Our homes are a safe haven for where we lay our heads and they should smell divine as well. When the seasons change so do the scents. When you go to the store now they are advertising scents that contain orange, cinnamon, pumpkin, and even nutmeg. You can make sure that your home smells like a little slice of heaven by creating your own organic home scents. Luckily we have a variety of ways in which this can be done for you to choose from. When you boil food on the stove it emits a smell. This means that you can start boiling wonderful things on your stove this fall naturally fill your home with nasal delight. Fill a pot of water and let it boil. Once you have a rolling boil started turn down the fire to let it simmer. Add a few slices of orange, cloves, or cinnamon sticks. You can even add dried leaves and herbs such as mint or lavender. You can find dried leaves at places like Whole Foods, Sprouts, or Trader Joe’s

SPRAY

Make your very own room mist by adding about 8-10 drops of your favorite essential oil to a half cup of water in a spray bottle. You can mix more than one essential oil together as well. Try something fun like orange and vanilla which makes a wonderful organic combination. You can spray as much of it as you need to knowing that it is organic and non toxic.

CARPET FRESHENER

You can make your carpet smell the way you want this season by creating your own carpet freshener and deodorizer. Just grab a cup of Baking Soda, add about 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil, let it dry for a few hours, shake all over the carpet, and vacuum when ready.

There are many decorative oil burners that are cost friendly. At the bottom of the oil burner is a space for a candle that will heat the oil so the smell will fill the home. You can choose a scented candle for extra effect. At the top of the oil burner is a mini bowl in which you add your favorite oil. Whatever you want your home to smell like, is what you should use.

POTPOURRI

Those roses dying? Well turn them into your very own potpourri. Use dried flowers, herbs, and add a few drops of essential oil in order to intensify the smell.
