Do you remember when Grandma used to put things from her kitchen cabinet right onto your face? I used to think...Grandma this is pretty gross! However Grandma knew best and a lot of the things in our kitchen cabinets have awesome medicinal uses.
What is Honey?
Honey is a sweet liquid produced by honey bees using nectar from flowers through a process or regurgitation and evaporation.
Honey is known for its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.
What Can Honey Do For You?
-Honey contains flavonoids which are antioxidants which help prevent some cancers and heart disease
-Honey may help disorders such as ulcers and gastrointestinal issues
-Honey helps with coughs and throat irritations
-Honey is anti-bacterial because the bees emit an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide
-Some varieties of honey possess a large amount of friendly bacteria
If you've followed the environmental news over the past few years then you know that the bees are dying. This is largely due to the large amount of pesticides being sprayed on our crops.
If the bees can't have it then why do we think that we can? The best thing to do is to shop organically OR grow your own vegetables. In addition to this I support companies that protect our Bees. Such as Burt's Bees Body Products, Urban Bee Company, and if you have a garden plant some dandelion and clover in your yard. These flowers are the honey bees favorite. Nourishing them keeps them alive.
Do you remember running from bees? We know that isn't safe that will get you stung! If a bee lands on you simply blow on them as the "wind" is a natural distraction and they often will fly away if blown upon.
