We live in a time now where there is so much to be anxious about. If its not what’s on the news or on social media, its something that we are dealing with in our own homes. Anxiety can be defined as “a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.”
Anxiety is a constant companion for many of us. In fact, according to the NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), it is estimated that an estimated 40 million adults in the US, or 18%, have an anxiety disorder. Approximately 8% of children and teenagers experience the negative impact of an anxiety disorder at school and at home. Most people develop symptoms of anxiety disorders before age 21 and women are 60% more likely to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder than men. Depending on the severity, it can be really crippling.
Some symptoms of anxiety include:
- feeling dread
- getting jumpy
- restlessness, rapid heart rate

- Take a deep breath.
- Journal out what you are feeling.
- Get centered into nature.
- Find a quiet place and meditate.

Anxiety doesn’t have to get the best of us. There are so many tools available to us. The most important thing to remember is that you are NOT alone.
